Red means clean it now
The owner’s manual is blunt about a red CLEAN light: clean the icemaker, or production of ice will drop considerably or stop completely.
Colors and thresholds
The light goes yellow first, once the control senses cleaning is coming up, and red later. The technical service guide names the colors green, amber and red. Amber arrives after 50 hung slabs or 3500 freeze cycles; red arrives after 70 hung slabs or 4000 freeze cycles. A red, steady light stays on until the unit has been cleaned.
Cleaning procedure from the manual
- Hold the OFF button for 3 seconds.
- Allow 5 to 10 minutes for ice to drop into the bin, then remove every piece of ice.
- Take off the drain cap at the base of the water reservoir, found inside the storage bin, and drain all the water.
- Screw the drain cap back on.
- Add one 16 oz. bottle of the ice machine cleaner named in the manual, observing the bottle’s safety precautions. Then fill the empty bottle with tap water twice and add both to the reservoir.
- Hold the CLEAN button for 3 seconds. The CLEAN light blinks during the roughly 70-minute cycle.
- A solid, steady light shows the cycle has ended; the system cleans and rinses on its own.
- Remove the drain cap once more. If green cleaning solution still comes out, run the cycle again with tap water alone in the reservoir. Tighten the cap first, since a loose one can leak and lead to thin ice or none at all.
- Hold the ON button for 3 seconds to restart ice production.
