About this model

Model overview

The ZIBI240HII at a glance

The ZIBI240HII is a 24-inch ice maker with a custom panel, and it is a current model. It is built to be hidden behind your cabinet face, so you see only the panel and handle. Everything we say about ice machines in general is on our Monogram ice maker repair, and the lineup is described on the Monogram ice makers page.

When the bin stays empty

An ice maker needs three things: water, cold and a clear path out. Take any one away and production dwindles. Typical reports:

  • Less ice than last month, then none at all.
  • Small or hollow cubes.
  • Water on the floor, or ice frozen into a block in the bin.
  • Ice that tastes stale because the machine has not been cleaned in a long while.

A technician works through supply, drain, cleaning state and the cooling cycle in that order, because the first two are the cheapest to fix.

Safe checks for owners

Look for the water supply valve and make sure it is open. Check that the unit has power and that the breaker is on. Clear any scoop, tray or obstruction from the bin, and if a clog of cubes has fused, leave it to melt rather than chipping. Watch the indicator lights and write down what they show. Our ice maker code pages cover the clean-light colors and blink patterns that Monogram lists for ice makers generally, including the Monogram ice maker CLEAN light yellow and CLEAN light red pages. They do not tie any code to one model, so read the label first.

Built-in details that change the diagnosis

Behind a panel, an ice maker has less ventilation than one in a freestanding spot. We check the drain line, the water line path, the cabinet clearances and whether the panel presses on the door. Then you get a written estimate, and nothing is repaired without your approval.

Next to it

If you are comparing it with a nugget-style unit, see the UNC15NPWII.

When to stop using it

If water is spreading across the floor, switch the ice maker off and close the supply valve. A burning smell means power off at the breaker. Otherwise it is fine to leave it idle until the technician arrives; an idle ice maker does no harm, while a leaking one can swell cabinet panels quickly. Take a photograph of any pooling water and of the display before you wipe up.
