Three blinks and a harvest problem
Three blinks, a gap, three blinks again: that is how the OFF light on a Monogram undercounter ZDIS150 flags a harvest failure.
What puts the control in this mode
- Harvest starts, and the control tracks the evaporator thermistor.
- More than 16 minutes later, the reading is still under 52 F.
- Harvest Failure Mode begins, with 3 blinks from the OFF light.
- The icemaker stays in that mode until someone corrects the failure.
Technician checks
The following come from the service guide and are not owner steps.
- Is the evaporator thermistor clipped to the sealed-system tubing and seated all the way in the control box? An unplugged thermistor makes the icemaker run on a timed cycle.
- What resistance does it show?
- Suspect any thermistor that is open, loose, unplugged or sitting in the wrong spot.
- A thermistor that tests fine shifts attention to a hot gas failure, a leak in the sealed system, or a restriction.
Over in the troubleshooting table the cause is a defective, loose or mispositioned evaporator thermistor; the fix is testing the thermistor and its wiring harness, or reconnecting them.
Models
ZDIS150WSS, ZDIS150WBB and ZDIS150WWW, an earlier Monogram series; the model label tells you if yours is among them.
Related
- OFF light, 2 blinks is about the bin thermistor instead.
- Red CLEAN light is a cleaning warning, a different light altogether.
