Monogram Ranges: Dual-Fuel and Gas Models by Width

A Monogram range joins a gas cooktop and an oven in one body, so the symptom tells you whether to look at the burners or the oven.

At a glance

Overview

Monogram Statement ranges are large, freestanding-style appliances that are installed in a built-in opening. In the San Francisco Bay Area they are often fed by natural gas, with a dedicated electric circuit for the oven and the controls. Understanding which part is failing is half the job.

Models and widths

The catalog holds seven ranges, all in the Statement series and all current.

  • Dual fuel: ZDP304NTSS at 30 inches, ZDP364NDTSS and ZDP366NTSS at 36 inches, and ZDP484NGTSS at 48 inches.
  • Gas: ZGP304NTSS at 30 inches, plus ZGP364NDTSS and ZGP366NTSS at 36 inches.

ZDP is the dual-fuel prefix and ZGP the all-gas prefix. Dual fuel pairs gas burners with an electric oven. All-gas uses gas in both.

Where to find the model

The label is usually on the frame behind the oven door, on the inside of a storage drawer opening or at the edge of the oven cavity. Open the door fully and look along the front frame.

Burner problems

Clicking that will not stop

Spark electrodes that stay wet or dirty keep clicking. Spilled food on an igniter can cause it. Burner keeps clicking explains the steps.

A flame that is uneven or lazy

The burner ports may be partly blocked, or the cap may be seated off center. A technician checks the orifice and the gas supply.

Burner fails to light

That may be a dead igniter, a bad switch or a closed gas valve. If you smell gas at any time, leave the home, avoid switches and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.

Oven problems

Slow warm-up or uneven results

On dual-fuel models, elements and sensors are electric. On all-gas models, the oven igniter and gas valve matter. Oven slow preheat and oven cooks unevenly are written for these symptoms.

Door and control issues

A door that does not seal loses heat, and a control that is unresponsive can follow a power flicker.

Codes

Monogram model pages Write down any message on the display and the time, then see the error code hub. The wall oven page covers F-codes on wall ovens, which are generic function codes.

Safe owner checks

  1. Check the breaker for the oven and the outlet for the control.
  2. Confirm the gas shutoff valve is in the open position, without touching any fittings.
  3. Clean burner caps and look at the electrodes for food residue once cool.
  4. Check that the door closes fully.
  5. Write down any display message before one power reset.

Never remove the back panel, adjust the gas connection or bypass a switch. If you smell burning or see sparks, turn off the breaker.

Living with a dual-fuel or gas range

Large ranges place heavy demands on a kitchen. A 48 inch unit needs a strong gas line and a hood that can match it, and a 30 inch unit in a Victorian flat may share a circuit that was not designed for a modern oven. When a range acts up after a remodel, ask whether the gas line, the electrical outlet or the venting changed, because those are the first places a technician looks.

Keep the burner caps clean, wipe spills while the surface is still warm and avoid soaking the igniters with cleaning spray. After deep cleaning, let the burners dry fully before you try to light them. On dual-fuel models, remember that the burners and the oven are separate systems; if the burners work well and the oven does not, you can narrow the search to the oven side right away.

Tell us the fuel type, the width and the model when you request a visit, along with which burner or oven mode misbehaves.
